MASTER THESIS - A SOLUTION FOR AUTOMATED QUALITY CONTROL 



Two students from Jönköping University (JU) are going to work with their master thesis at Falks Metall AB. The aim is to develop a conceptual solution for automating the scanning of each tool including the activity to store the data in the local produktion data cloud. Partners in this project are also Mimatic and Ravema.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

Falks Metall use Shopfloor Management Boards for monitoring, following up and communication within the organization . We have been part of a national project called Produktionslyftet where we learned about Lean thinking and problem solving methods. 

Some years later, a new research project came across; Project Vis'man. That project focused on pulse boards and ran for a period of three years.  Together with researchers from University of Mälardalens Högskola, we  analysed pulse board scope, layouts and communication.

PROCESS CAPABILITY INDEX (CPK)

We perform process studies on all manufacturing processes to verify process capability and to provide additional input for process control, including those for special charcteristics. 

CPK is a statistical tool, to measure the ability of a process to produce output within customer's specification limits. CPK is used to estimate how close you are to a given target and how consistent you are to around your average performance. Our customers usually wants a CPK of 1,33. The higher CPK value, the better process. 

The Picture shows the range of our CPK. Nothing lower than 1,6. 

With this in mind, we can trust that our manufacturing process is capable and meets specification limits.
