Copper Nickel

Copper-nickel is a corrosion-resistant alloy with excellent strength and durability, ideal for marine and industrial applications.

Available Alloys

CuNi10Fe1Mn
A corrosion-resistant copper-nickel alloy with good strength, ideal for marine and refrigeration systems.

CuNi30Fe1Mn
A higher nickel alloy that offers extra corrosion resistance and is used in demanding environments such as offshore and chemical industries.

Areas of application

Machined copper-nickel components are used in marine applications for fittings, impellers and valves due to the corrosion resistance of the alloys. In the energy and offshore industries, they are used for heat exchangers, capacitors and systems in chemically exposed environments, where strength and durability are critical.

History

Copper-nickel has been used since the 4th century BC, especially in China, where natural alloys of copper and nickel were discovered. During the 19th century, the alloy began to be used in coinage and marine applications thanks to its corrosion resistance. Today, copper-nickel is an indispensable metal for advanced industrial and technological solutions, especially in offshore and shipbuilding.

Fun fact

Copper-nickel is one of the few materials that maintains its strength and corrosion resistance even in extreme temperatures, making it ideal for use in cryogenic and high temperature environments.
